Upgrade to linux-3.17.2-1 does not fix.

Is this a vanilla card without being flashed for any modding purposes? Any changes with current Kernel versions?

Yeah it's a vanilla card. I've been running linux-ck mostly, but I've confirmed that it also happens using the stock kernel.

Same, vanilla card. I've been using LTS but I'll update and try latest.

Oh, sorry, I thought this was the bug report that I had filed. I also have a problem with nouveau (https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/42534) but it seems slightly different.

Happened to me also. Kernel 3.18, vanilla card (Apple MBP 5,5 = nVidia 9400M).

Reported in the forums: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=192248
/EDIT: it didn't matter if I used early or late KMS: in both setups, the system froze completely at the handover between nouveaufb and EFI VGA. I could only boot into bash using the 'nomodeset' kernel parameter. I'm back on nvidia-340xx which is working correctly.

Not sure if I tried Nouveau on 3.17-3.18. 3.19.2 is in [core] now though and that's working fine for me as is my custom 4.0.0-rc4 kernel. Are you guys still having problems with the new kernel? FYI my card is:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 770] (rev a1)

I'm using late KMS and BIOS boot (I have an EFI motherboard but use BIOS emulation because it's easier.)

The last comment stated it appeared to be working and I have not seen further reports from the other people that had this issue. If you can reply with whether this bug has been fixed in more recent kernels that would be great.

I tested with linux 4.6.4 with late KMS - no crash. Based on original bug I doubt it's worth testing with early KMS.
