Description:

After the installation of Gnome 3.14 freshly pushed on the extra repo, I noticed a bug concerning the mouse pointer. I already saw it when Gnome 3.14 was testing.

The mouse pointer doesn't show up on GDM, during the login phase. On the desktop, mouse pointer is not present over every app being part of Gnome-shell : for instance, the Application panel, the user menu, the top bar or the calendar. Mouse pointer can be seen for other applications (ex : Firefox).

I really don't know which log to provide as I didn't see any error explicitly related to this issue. Therefore, here is the Xorg log and the GDM log.

Additional info:
* gnome-shell 3.14.1-1
* attached files : /var/log/Xorg.0.log, /var/log/gdm/:0.log, /var/log/everything.log (since reboot)

Steps to reproduce:
* Install Gnome 3.14 on Arch Linux via Pacman

Reason for closing:  Works for me
Additional comments about closing:  Missing files on user system, not a packaging bug.

Ok. Further investigations indicate that the bug is related to the Adwaita xcursor.

The mouse pointer can be seen over gnome-shell apps if :
- an other xcursor is installed via pacman
- this other xcursor is selected in gnome-tweak-tool

The mouse pointer is still invisible on GDM.

Could you try to reinstall adwaita-icon-theme? My guess is that the move of icons from gnome-theme-standard to adwaita-icon-theme lost some files on your system.

I had the same issue and reinstalling adwaita-icon-theme fixed the mouse issue with gdm.

Indeed, reinstall adwaita-icon-theme fixed the issue. Mouse pointer is usable everywhere now. Thanks !

How did you guys upgrade? Using pacman -Syu, or did you use some wrapper tool or any other method that needs forcing upgrades?
Comment by Adrien Ferrand (Fullm3tal) - Friday, 17 October 2014, 12:00 GMT
Just a standard upgrade via pacman -Syu to get Gnome 3.14, and a pacman -S adwaita-icon-theme to reinstall cursor.

Used standard pacman -Syu then pacman -S adwaita-icon-theme.

I am still having this issue even after pacman -Syu and pacman -S adwaita-icon-theme. Can someone look into this deeper to try and help me out?

Who have adwaita-icon-theme-git AUR package can fix with yaourt -S adwaita-icon-theme-git
