python[2]-matplotlib requires python[2]-pillow for reading/writing to various image formats such as .jpg, .bmp, .tiff (http://matplotlib.org/users/installing.html). Should this be an Optional Dependency for the matplotlib packages? Additional info: * package version(s): python2-2.7.8-2; python2-matplolib-1.4.0-2 * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: Try to open a .jpg file with matplotlib In python[2], without python[2]-pillow installed >>> import matplotlib >>> matplotlib.image.imread(/path/to/file.jpg) |
