With gnome-photos installed on my system, when searching something in gnome-shell, I get the following error un journalctl :

org.gnome.Photos[1683]: GEGL-geglmodule.c-Message: Module '/usr/lib/gegl-0.2/ff-load.so' load error: /usr/lib/gegl-0.2/ff-load.so: undefined symbol: av_read_packet

I'm running gegl 0.2.0-12, gnome-photos 3.12.1-1 and gnome-shell 3.12.2-1

I have ffmpeg installed : ffmpeg-1:2.4.2-1

The symbol has been deprecated and removed from ffmpeg some time ago. While it's still available via ffmpeg-compat,
the error message itself is completely harmless – gegl is used for image processing, not accessing online streams. Closing.
