Description:
Without xarchiver, pcmanfm lists compress and uncompress as options for folders/files and compressed folders/files respectively, but cannot actually compress or uncompress unless xarchiver is installed. It may be the case that other compression utitlities like file-roller may do the job as well, I am not sure. Regardless, these should be listed as alternative options. Additional info: * package version(s) * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: Install pcmanfm and make sure xarchiver is not installed. |

It can work with other backends as well, at least Ark here works
with it, both compress/uncompress works with Ark.
Of course pcmanfm supports multiple backends, but xarchiver is the
most lightweight and is listed on LXDE's wiki:
