During the system boot when the message "Starting Udev Daemon" appears, my HP-Deskjet632 (parallel port) printer acts as if it has been sent a new job. It starts to feed a new sheet of paper, slides the cartridge several times without laying any ink, and then abruptly goes into fault mode with the error light blinking. When I reset the printer it feeds out a blank sheet of paper and then performs normally.

seems it react on adding the lp module or something like that
Comment by Mike McQueen (McQueen) - Wednesday, 22 March 2006, 04:10 GMT
Yes, I do have the lp module listed in the rc.conf file (along with parport and parport_pc). However, this issue began on my first boot after a base FTP Arch install without any addtitional modules or daemons being loaded (other than my network which is forcedeth).

ok please downgrade to 0.9.8 i uploaded it a few hours ago again, 0.9.9 was a bit broken
Comment by Mike McQueen (McQueen) - Thursday, 23 March 2006, 03:19 GMT
I downgraded to 0.9.8 but there was no change in the observed behavior of my printer. I am certain that I had neither hplip version installed on my first reboot after the base Arch FTP install, and it was at this time that I began noticing the problem as described in this bug report. Thanks for the continued assistance.

$ sudo pacman -Qs hplip
local/hplip 0.9.8-1
