Description:
mate-applet-streamer works quite well (adding streams/stations from Favourites/Icecast/Custom tab, playing, pausing, ...) but after rebooting or if removing the applet from panel/bar and trying to re-add it, it refuses to start with the message "unexpectedly terminated" .. it then can't be reloaded. Only solution after every reboot so far is to remove ~/.streamer_applet/streamer.sqlite and re-add the applet (a new clean database is automatically generated).

Additional info:
* packages
mate-applet-streamer 0.1.0-1
gst-plugins-base 1.4.1-1
gtk2 2.24.24-1
libnotify 0.7.6-1
mate-panel 1.8.0-3
sqlite 3.8.6-1
gst-plugins-bad 1.4.1-1 (optional for MP3 decoding)

Steps to reproduce:
- install and add to panel
- add a station from Icecast or so
- play, pause
- remove from panel and try to re-add or just reboot pc
- try same but before: rm ~/.streamer_applet/streamer.sqlite

PS: I dont know how to correctly debug with gdb as there are no more logs apart from the error message when the applet fails to start. Tried to debug applet with new and "faulty" db this way:
$ gdb /usr/lib/mate-applet-streamer/streamer_applet
(gdb) r
>> then added applet to panel/bar

I've rebuilt the package, can you update and test the new version please?
Comment by Yenal (yenal) - Sunday, 21 September 2014, 09:57 GMT
Sure.. I removed .streamer_applet dir and purged mate-applet-streamer, then installed version 0.1.0-2. Again after adding some stations, playing/pausing, then removing the applet and trying to readd, it I get the same error.
Maybe this is only specific to my machine.. I think some more people should confirm this error.

edit:
Hey.. I tested the applet on another PC without any problems (rebooting/readding to panel, etc.), but i686 instead of x86_64. May this is only x86_64 specific... I'll soon make a usb-chroot to test if the error on the x86_64-PC is hardware or software/package related.

edit2:
same problem in fresh x86_64 chroot... if nobody else can confirm this error, this is probably hardware related?

OK, I can confirm the error. I've contacted upstream and asked if they can take a look.

The upstream developer contacted me to say he was able to reproduce the problem reported and has released a new version of mate-applet-streamer which should resolve the issue. I have just released mate-applet-streamer 0.1.2-1 to [community]. Can you update and report back if the issue is resolved please?

I confirm that it's fixed now.
