So I have been upgrading virtualbox regularly using pacman.

Using since virtualbox 4.3.10.

Everytime pacman -Syu was sufficient and nothing else was required.

Suddenly after upgrade to 4.3.16 windows inside virtualbox started crashing.

Windows would boot and show windows logo and then suddenly virtualbox would show ABORTed.

I spent 2-3hrs just to figure out what went wrong.

Reinstalled virtualbox / virtualbox modules.

Uninstalled virtualbox modules and installed dkms based modules.

Tried to go into windows safe mode, etc etc.

And finally after lots of beating around bush I realised that extension pack was still 4.3.10!!

And BINGO, it got resolved after I installed extension pack 4.3.16

So my request is to add a "Line of Note" while upgrading - notifying user that they should upgrade extension pack too if they are using any.

That way user will remember that extension pack is also required to be upgraded.

Thanks in advance

I will not add a reference to an unofficial packages in an official package.

The right way to fix it, is to add a dependency in vbox-ext-oracle pkg to vbox version. But, as you can read in comments, it makes upgrades difficult, because you have to remove the package before upgrading vbox and reinstall it after.
