DetailsAfter applying latest batch of updates, the installed gcc version no longer matches the gcc version used to compile the kernel.
This causes issues when compiling various external modules like drivers for Marvell network card and configuration for vmware. I have tired telling build scripts to ignore the difference in gcc version and modules compiled but they would not work with standard kernal. After recompiling both the kernel and the modules I can now use them but there will be other people out there with similar issues that will not know how to do this. Could you please release the kernel version that is compiled with new version of gcc? And in the future can there be something done to force the release of new kernel packages when gcc version is updated? |

normally this happens only by big update, like 4.0 to 4.1.
