DetailsDescription:
The post-install message for emacs-python-mode (similar for others like php-mode) contains instructions to add (autoload 'python-mode "python-mode.el" "Python mode." t) (setq auto-mode-alist (append '(("/*.\.py$" . python-mode)) auto-mode-alist)) to your ~/.emacs. But it looks like that regex has a typo, and should be more like "/.*\\.py\\'". Note the /.* instead of /*. (which seems like a typo), the double backslash (otherwise lisp eats it), and the \\' instead of $ (which matters in the rare case that filenames have a newline in them). "\\.py\\'" would be equivalent and simpler. Additional info: emacs-python-mode 6.1.3-1 emacs-php-mode 1.5.0-5 Possibly others. Steps to reproduce: # pacman -S emacs-python-mode |
