DetailsDescription:
I get a kernel oops (on 3.16.1-1-ARCH) when building with a directory on an NFS share using makepkg (related to an ACL call). This is a known problem upstream. It has also been patched by Fedora upstream among other distros. Here is redhat's bugzilla page: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1131551 Steps to reproduce: Mount an nfsv3 share, makepkg on that share. Here's the oops message in dmesg: [ 1385.708875] BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffffffffffffffa1 [ 1385.708925] IP: [<ffffffffa03274db>] nfs3_list_one_acl+0x2b/0x80 [nfsv3] [ 1385.708967] PGD 1814067 PUD 1816067 PMD 0 [ 1385.708996] Oops: 0002 [#2] PREEMPT SMP [ 1385.709025] Modules linked in: nfsv3 nfs_acl snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_codec_generic iTCO_wdt iTCO_vendor_support gpio_ich nvidia(PO) ppdev evdev mac_hid coretemp hwmon ext4 crc16 mbcache jbd2 kvm microcode i915 serio_raw pcspkr snd_hda_intel snd_hda_controller lpc_ich i2c_i801 snd_hda_codec drm_kms_helper snd_hwdep tpm_infineon parport_pc parport tpm_tis tpm snd_pcm snd_timer drm snd e1000e soundcore i2c_algo_bit i2c_core video button acpi_cpufreq ptp intel_agp shpchp intel_gtt pps_core processor nfs lockd fscache sunrpc f2fs sd_mod crc_t10dif crct10dif_common ata_generic pata_acpi atkbd libps2 ahci libahci pata_it8213 libata scsi_mod i8042 serio ehci_pci uhci_hcd ehci_hcd usbcore usb_common [ 1385.712113] CPU: 1 PID: 629 Comm: mv Tainted: P D O 3.16.1-1-ARCH #1 [ 1385.712113] Hardware name: Supermicro C2SBC-Q/C2SBC-Q, BIOS 2.00 09/17/2010 [ 1385.712113] task: ffff880243310000 ti: ffff88021f6f4000 task.ti: ffff88021f6f4000 [ 1385.712113] RIP: 0010:[<ffffffffa03274db>] [<ffffffffa03274db>] nfs3_list_one_acl+0x2b/0x80 [nfsv3] [ 1385.712113] RSP: 0018:ffff88021f6f7e88 EFLAGS: 00010282 [ 1385.712113] RAX: ffffffffffffffa1 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: 0000000000000000 [ 1385.712113] RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: 0000000000008000 RDI: ffff88021f6f7e28 [ 1385.712113] RBP: ffff88021f6f7eb0 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: ffff88021f6f7ec0 [ 1385.712113] R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000206 R12: 0000000000000000 [ 1385.712113] R13: ffffffffa0328c4a R14: 0000000000000000 R15: ffff88021f6f7ec0 [ 1385.712113] FS: 00007eff5bfbd700(0000) GS:ffff88024fd00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [ 1385.712113] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 000000008005003b [ 1385.712113] CR2: ffffffffffffffa1 CR3: 000000021f6c3000 CR4: 00000000000007e0 [ 1385.712113] Stack: [ 1385.712113] ffff8800aad619f8 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 [ 1385.712113] 00007fffd290c800 ffff88021f6f7ee8 ffffffffa0327b31 0000000000000000 [ 1385.712113] 00000000ea1d60ee ffff880243d22480 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 [ 1385.712113] Call Trace: [ 1385.712113] [<ffffffffa0327b31>] nfs3_listxattr+0x51/0xa5 [nfsv3] [ 1385.712113] [<ffffffff811e6c82>] vfs_listxattr+0x42/0x70 [ 1385.712113] [<ffffffff811e6d8c>] listxattr+0xdc/0x140 [ 1385.712113] [<ffffffff811e7a17>] SyS_flistxattr+0x37/0x70 [ 1385.712113] [<ffffffff81530be9>] system_call_fastpath+0x16/0x1b [ 1385.712113] Code: 66 66 66 66 90 55 48 89 e5 41 57 41 56 41 55 41 54 49 89 d5 53 49 89 ce 4d 89 c4 4d 89 cf 49 8b 19 e8 aa 59 ef e0 48 85 c0 74 35 <f0> ff 08 74 40 4c 89 ef e8 e8 16 f8 e0 49 03 07 49 89 c2 49 83 [ 1385.712113] RIP [<ffffffffa03274db>] nfs3_list_one_acl+0x2b/0x80 [nfsv3] [ 1385.712113] RSP <ffff88021f6f7e88> [ 1385.712113] CR2: ffffffffffffffa1 [ 1385.712113] ---[ end trace 9ce7cd102df9d083 ]--- |

If it helps, 3.17 on mainline as of right now also includes this patch, though that version is entirely in rc mode.
