Hello,
Is it possible to add mysql support to proftpd (or a new package which is better), I need it to make VHCS work..

i made already a PKGBUILD for it, it's in AUR, i also added to it the GCC4 patch which i've found on google

Aur link -> http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?do_Details=1&ID=3830

Hmm, depends. Is mysql then a runtime dependency of proftpd?

We usually don't host multiple versions of packages in the official repos, so if it's a runtime dep, it'll have to stay in the AUR.

I'm not sure if it's a runtime dep or not, i haven't tried proftpd without mysql yet, but at least it's a makedepends, so the choice is yours i can keep maintaining the package in AUR.

Try running ldd against the proftpd binary to see if it links in libmysqlclient.

# ldd /usr/sbin/proftpd

Hmm, okay. Well, we'll have to leave your package in the AUR then. Otherwise people will complain about the (un-needed for most) mysql dependency on the official proftpd package.
