Description:
mplayer is unable to open https streams, the feature is just not implemented.
It could open them through ffmpeg, with something like:
mplayer ffmptg://https://secure.site/stream

but the "builtin" ffmpeg needs to be built with openssl/gnutls support.
Could this be done, please?

The switch would be --enable-gnutls and/or --enable-openssl (not sure)
ffmpeg in [extra] seems to be compiled that way.

I'm not aware of any sane way to pass parameters to ffmpeg configure script. The problem is reported upstream since years, there is not much I can do about it.
