btrfs reports itself as "dirty": $ btrfs --version Btrfs v3.14.2-dirty I wondered what is the deal... Looks like git sees changes after Documentation/Makefile has been patched. So I would recommend runnig after patching: $ git update-index --assume-unchanged Documentation/Makefile That should make the build system happy and report clean version number. Additional info: btrfs-progs 3.14.2-3 |

The release is not dirtied by this patch. We don't mislead users by removing that.
