Details

Description:
If a ifname with more than 13 characters is given the dhcpd can't reply on this interface. Printing a log-message like this:

Aug 18 13:53:31 dhcpd[1715]: dhcp.c:3585: Failed to send 300 byte long packet over *ifname* interface.
Aug 18 13:53:31 dhcpd[1715]: send_packet: No such device

Have you reported this upstream? I can't see how this could be a packaging problem.
