The X.org radeon driver supplyed by xf86-video-ati does not
work propperly in xinerama mode.
Xinerama is actually working as supposed, but one screen is black. I can move windows onto the black screen, and if I capture a screenshot it displays the hole extended desktop. Both screens is vorking in console an clone-mode. The problem is dicussed here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=19235 - Mathias Nedrebø |

What you could try is MergedFB with Xinerama emulation instead of true xinerama. I'll upload my xorg.conf which contains the needed configuration for it. Though my config is for mga, it should be the same for your configuration, as the mga driver on archlinux uses an unofficial patch which has been ported from the radeon and sis drivers.
The advantage of using MergedFB over true Xinerama is that it's quite much faster and you don't loose DRI. With true Xinerama X has to maintain 2 framebuffers with 2 viewports, with MergedFB + Xinerama emulation, you have 1 framebuffer with 2 viewports, which removes quite a lot of overhead.
To me, the MergedFB alternative makes things go slower. Scrolling and moving windows ofen takes a long time. Maybe my gpu card is to weak. ATI Radeon 7500, w/16 MB ram.
