Currently the pkg-config file is missing, so the lib won't be found by some build-systems.

And the pkg-config file comes from where? This is something that needs to be dealt with upstream.

I'm not sure if upstream has one. But in the meantime, we could just use this one:

Which is exactly my point. Offer it to them. Siloing the pkg-config file in Arch does nothing for portability (which is the whole point of pkg-config).
