Do you have an authentication agent running? https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Polkit#Authentication_agents

Yes, a “ps aux | grep polkit” shows that “/usr/lib/polkit-1/polkitd --no-debug” is running by user polkitd and “/usr/lib/mate-polkit/polkit-mate-authentication-agent-1” by my user. Each desktop environment will show its corresponding polkit (/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/polkit-kde-authentication-agent-1 for KDE for example and the Gnome2 one for XFCE) except on Gnome which has it built-in as I have read.
What else can I try?

Works for me with ssh-agent+ssh-add without any additional actions.
