Details

Some fonts' .install files has only fc-cache, some has mkfontdir and mkfontscale, and some has even xset -fp rehash.
IMO there should be standard proto.PKGBUIKLD and proto.install for all font packages. All existing font packages (including those in AUR) should be reviewed and changed if needed.

I fully agree. Font install scripts in Arch are quite a mess ... This should be filed as BUG, not FEATURE REQUEST ;-)

I am going to file a more detailed bug report separately.
