Description:

Using gst-vaapi with totem with proprietary nvidia drivers to watch videos appears to work fine (with much reduced CPU usage compared to without gst-vaapi). However if you open a subtitle file totem will segfault when it tries to display any subtitle.

Additional info:
* gst-vaapi 0.5.8-1
* libva 1.3.1-2
* totem 3.12.1-2
* libva-vdpau-driver 0.7.4-1
* nvidia-utils 337.25-2

Steps to reproduce:

Open totem
Play video
Add subtitle file

Crash occurs as below (the lines that say CRITICAL only occur when totem attempts to display a subtitle)
