Details

Since wayland 1.5.0-1, blueman applet has stopped functioning properly on my system.
An error pops up when the applet starts:

Failed to apply network settings
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildSignaled: Process org.blueman.Mechanism received signal 5

You might not be able to connect to the Bluetooth network via this machine

I found this forum thread at manjaro.org (Arch-based distro) where they tracked it down to wayland being the culprit:

Surely enough, downgrading wayland (1.5.0-1 => 1.4.0-1) fixes the issue.
