Description: Backlight doesn't work at startup, just after grub. The screen still show the usual but I cannot see it because the backlight not working; I have to use a powerful light to see it. In this situation I can login and do anything, but without the backlight.

After sleep and wake the backlight come back to work. This has been the method I used until a few days I discoverd a workaround here: http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/mint-linux/194172-new-install-fails-boot.html

You need to create a file on /etc/modprobe.d like backlight.conf with that content:
options video allow_duplicates=1

I also noticed that conky cannot show the cpu temperature, but can show each core's temperature. This still happens even with the workaround for the backlight. That temperature showed up with that command:

$ sensors | grep temp1 | awk '{print $2}'

The bug started with linux kernel 3.14 vanilla and linux-ck. Currently using linux-ck.

Additional info:
The system is updated. It's x86_64, intel graphics X3100, cpu T8100.

* Current version of some packages I think may be of interest:
linux 3.14.6-1
acpi 1.7-1
xorg-xbacklight 1.2.1-1
intel-dri 10.2.1-1
xf86-video-intel 2.99.912-1

* config and/or log files etc.

I don't know what config or logs files could you need. Anything you need just ask for it.

Steps to reproduce: Boot up the laptop

I forgot to tell that it's not like https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/39798?string=backlight&project=1&search_name=&type%5B0%5D=&sev%5B0%5D=&pri%5B0%5D=&due%5B0%5D=&reported%5B0%5D=&cat%5B0%5D=&status%5B0%5D=open&percent%5B0%5D=&opened=&dev=&closed=&duedatefrom=&duedateto=&changedfrom=&changedto=&openedfrom=&openedto=&closedfrom=&closedto=

since the control of brightness always worked (after get backlight working of course).

The workaround improved the brightness control by changing in steps of 10%. Before that it was steps of a few more than 10% and not constant.
The minimum now is 0% of brightness wich is backlight off. Before that it was just a minimum of brightness.

You need to report this upstream, we cannot do anything here. Especially If you us not repository packages.
