My system recently started taking an extra 90 seconds to shut-down each time. I troubleshot the problem using the steps recommended here: http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/Debugging/#index2h1

Resultingly, I found that it was my Fcron service that was causing the delay. This was confirmed when I then tried to shut it down manually via "systemctl stop fcron.service". I overcame the problem by simply rebuilding the "fcron" package. I didn't need to modify the [community] PKGBUILD at all.

In case there are other users enduring the same problem, the "fcron" package in [community] should be rebuilt against the current libraries. If nobody confirms that they're experiencing this problem, it could just be that they haven't worked out that Fcron is to blame.

I can't reproduce this error on any of my current machines. Can you please give us more information about the status your system had at that time? Maybe jobs running at that time of the day which caused this trouble?

There has been an update for FS40636, do you still encounter this problem?

This problem was happening to me on a consistent basis. Fcron caused my system to hang on shutdown at least 10 times in a row. There were no cron jobs running on any of those occasions. The update to  FS#40636  is unrelated as I was able to fix this problem by simply rebuilding the "fcron" package.

Even if you're not experiencing it at your end, I'd still recommend rebuilding the package in case other Archers are. By the way, I remember pacman noting at the time that the net upgrade size was non-zero. This means rebuilding the package against the current libraries definitely had some impact.

Xavion, the update for  FS#40636  included a rebuild. That's why he's asking if it fixed the problem.

I had already fixed the problem by rebuilding here yesterday. That's why I didn't need to check if the update for  FS#40636  had already been propagated to [community]. As stated in my two earlier posts, this ticket wasn't created for my benefit. Nonetheless, I can confirm that v3.1.3-2 hasn't reverted my system to hanging on shutdown.
