Description:

Archlinux contains many tools that are defined in posix, but does not include pax
in core or community.

Pax is a compromise between tar and cpio, as explained on:

http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/utilities/pax.html

I think having pax in core or community repos instead of aur would make life easier for many people, as POSIX is the common anchestor for Unices.

Thus including pax into one of the default repos would make archlinux more usable.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.

Reason for closing:  Not a bug
Additional comments about closing:  POSIX compatability has never been a strict goal of arch. If you want to use pax, install pax.
