x264 was split into x264 and x264-dev. Was there an announcement to do that for more packages in general, I didn't find any on the mailing lists. Can we use this opportunity to add .a files into -dev packages where a package is split? This would be the same as other popular distros do it and still keep the main package small. Why was x264 split? |

- build and split out 10bit-depth version (
FS#33802)- split out development headers to avoid conflict between x264 and x264-10bit
This has nothing to do with doing "the same as other popular distros".
Edit: 1:142.20140311-4 changes this completely, anyway, there is no -dev package. The libs are just split out for each version, the headers are in the main package now.
