Details(in short) I would think that the internal faad2 to be found within the mplayer code is better than the version that is "externally released". The internal faad2 is a later version. The internal faad2 has also been found to "play nice" with several files (notably the (which u might be interested in) 'Go Open' tv series to be found at www.legaltorrents.com).
If u "--enable-external-faad", these files will just not play. Don't ask me why though - u'll have to talk to the mplayer folks, or talk to some codec folks. Pls use the internal faad2 code - get rid of the "--enable-external-faad" switch. I dont see any reason why not to. |

if somebody wants to reproduce problems with AAC sound driven through faad2, the best example is is this anime translated by shinsen subs:

it is not yet licensed in any other country than japan, so it's legal to download it. be aware that this is a HD video that will not run with anything less than a 2.8ghz celeron d. :)
