DetailsI know it requires asciidoc etc. but the package is almost useless without man pages.

Additional comments about closing: :) Seems our friends over at gentoo publish a tarball of prebuilt manpages for git.
So rather than dealing with a nasty git checkout (the prebuilts come from the git repo), and rather than dealing with nasty (and slow..I tried it) asciidoc; we'll just use their tarball.
