Details

Description: After of a fresh install, only base more driver xf86-video-intel with dependences (mesa, etc), the screen show unrecognizable characters, imposible read. Only terminal, no X11 installed.

Steps to reproduce:

Install base more drivers x86-videl-intel.
Adapted video is i815, is old adapter, but is compatible (http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/graphics/intel815)


How additional info, with live cd of archlinux to install, the screen is show perfect.

So the most recent kernel kills readability of your screen with KMS on console... you could try the linux-lts kernel as a workaround for your problem.

If I delete param set gfxpayload of grub work all well, and can install also xfce4. In x86_64 I don't know if he problem exist

same problem bun in x86_64 but same solution as igallart post.
So remove gfxplayload is the solution
