Description:

Fairly certain that this'll be a MATE issue(-let) but the Thunderbird 24.5.0 upgrade just now made it disappear from my Applications menu; logging out and in again worked to bring it back. Reported just in case the maintainder knows better and decides that there's some sort of "update" call missing from the install file...

This is because of the way MATE tracks modifications done by pacman. We've seen this with gnome-shell also, reloading the shell with "ALT+F2 -> r" reloads the icon.

Does your system have fast storage like an SSD or something?

No, not; this is on a legacy Pentium 4 system with an IDE (as in, not even SATA) drive...

Must be a Mate issue, just tried it on KDE, no problems.
