Since xorg7 hit current today, I figured I'd take the plunge. I currently have 2 problems with xfce and the new xorg.

Now xfce takes forever to load; it's like being on a windows computer. I was able to easily jot down that xfce started loading slowly with the windown manager. It then proceeded to load the taskbar, desktop manager, panel, xfcalendar, and finally gaim and my Autostart script.

My other problem is that when I select quit from xfce's menu, xfce does not log me out. This is quite annoying, as I can normally shutdown and reboot from xfce as well.

I use gdm to login in my system.

I dont have no problems with XFCE4 and Xorg7.
Hod do you start XFCE? startx, startxfce4?
What is in your .xinitrc?

Oh, I saw gdm at the end. :)
I use exec xfce4-session in my .xinitrc and it works good.

You can try also temporarily login from plain text console, instead of gdm, issue startxfce4 and see if XFCE will start better.

I also have exec xfce4-session in my .xinitrc. I captured the output from startxfce4 and got the following:

Agent pid 6177
sh: /usr/X11R6/bin/iceauth: No such file or directory

** (xfce4-session:6185): WARNING **: Failed to setup the ICE authentication data, session management might not work properly.

** (xfce4-session:6185): WARNING **: ICE connection 0x80904f8 rejected

** (xfce4-session:6185): WARNING **: ICE connection 0x8135c20 rejected
** Message: Cannot connect to session manager

Pid 6177 belongs to ssh-agent. It looks like some program needs to be recompiled with the new location of iceauth.

I just added a link from /usr/X11R6/bin/iceauth to /usr/bin/iceauth. That fixed both of my problems when logging in from the console and gdm.

Nevermind. I was syncing with nethat's extra mirror, which apparently hasn't updated yet. I switched over to archlinux's extra repo, and updated the system. There was a new xfce4-session, which fixed the problem.
