DetailsWebkitgtk that is used by dwb and uzbl crashes with illegal instruction when opening a page that has JavaScript on a x86 machine that does not have SSE2. The problem is that the JavaScript JIT creates code with SSE2 instructions.
The solution is to build webkitgtk with the option --disable-jit. Is it possible to have two builds of webkitgtk one with JIT (for those with newest PCs) and without JIT for those that have old machines which dont have SSE2. Open references... http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2014-02/msg00292.html I have built a version of webkitgtk on my machine with --disable-jit and it works. Problem is it took ~48hours to do the build so would be nice to have a pre-build one. |

Is this still a problem with current webkitgtk packages? If so, we might want to consider enabling the FTL JIT based on LLVM. That could open a whole different can of worms though.
