Hi,

it seems that ntp package doesn't have a default config file, is it normal ?
By the way, the package creates a /etc/ntp/ directory which is useless because the default config file should be in /etc.

i would like to see that fix too. why does it create /etc/ntp in the first place? :)

Could it be based on the time zone in rc.conf
TIMEZONE=Europe/London

server 0.uk.pool.ntp.org
server 1.uk.pool.ntp.org
server 2.uk.pool.ntp.org

Creating ntp.conf automatically during install can be not so easy to implement.
IMO default ntp.conf should contain
server pool.ntp.org

BTW, I could not get ntpd to sync time on my machine (I am behind a corporate firewall), but ntpdate -u pool.ntp.org works (note the -u option). Is there an option for ntpd to sync time using the same method as ntpdate -u (-u means using unpriviledged ports)?
If there is such option it would be very nice to have it (commented) in default ntp.conf.
OpenNTPD is not working too. I can sync time only with rdate -s or ntpdate -u.
