Description:

ssmtp is putting sendmail in /usr/bin/sendmail, when other programs expect it to be in /usr/sbin/sendmail. For example, using the mail command doesn't work.

There was an old bug for this,  FS#8353 , but I am seeing this issue in the new package, 2.64-5.

Additional info:

[tperkins@T77 ~]$ pacman -Ql ssmtp
ssmtp /etc/
ssmtp /etc/ssmtp/
ssmtp /etc/ssmtp/revaliases
ssmtp /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf
ssmtp /usr/
ssmtp /usr/bin/
ssmtp /usr/bin/mailq
ssmtp /usr/bin/newaliases
ssmtp /usr/bin/sendmail
ssmtp /usr/bin/ssmtp
ssmtp /usr/share/
ssmtp /usr/share/man/
ssmtp /usr/share/man/man5/
ssmtp /usr/share/man/man5/ssmtp.conf.5.gz
ssmtp /usr/share/man/man8/
ssmtp /usr/share/man/man8/ssmtp.8.gz
[tperkins@T77 ~]$ ls -l /usr/bin/sendmail
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 5 Sep 14 2013 /usr/bin/sendmail -> ssmtp

Steps to reproduce:

Follow the steps in the wiki:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SSMTP

Trying to use the mail command doesn't work, and says something like this:

/usr/sbin/sendmail: No such file or directory
"/home/tperkins/dead.letter" 12/272
. . . message not sent.

/usr/sbin is supposed to be a symlink to /usr/bin
You need to update or fix your system.
