Works fine here. Can you get some useful output from the terminal? Or a backtrace to submit upstream?

Check out the attached file. It's what I get from "journalctl | grep -i 'aegisub'".

I have no idea what could cause a memory corruption (works fine on several machines here), try to file an issue on GitHub, see if upstream can help. Don't know if it's a problem with our ffmpeg or with aegisub, I'm afraid I won't be of much help.
Maybe you could try aegisub-git, I have it on my unofficial repo: http://pkgbuild.com/~alucryd/alucryd/$arch

I've already submmited to upstream, but haven't received any reply yet. Still thank you so much for taking your time to look into this.

According to aegisub and ffms2 developers that's because opening AAC is broken in the last release of the latter - with ffmpeg 2.2 at least - but it was already fixed in trunk, see  FS#39748  for more information.

  • Field changed: Summary ([aegisub] 'Open audio from video' freezes Aegisub with ffmpeg 1:2.2-2 → [aegisub] [ffms2] 'Open audio from video' freezes Aegisub with ffmpeg 1:2.2-2)
Alucryd maintains ffms2, too, makes this simpler.

I had been using ffms2-git for a while which is why I didn't notice this (had forgotten I was on nightly ffms2-git). Backporting the relevant commit didn't do the trick here, so I pushed the latest git snapshot instead. Don't worry, it won't make your computer explode.

This seems to be back, see  FS#40705

Aargh, back to git it is then. Thx for the heads up.
