Description:
On my laptop with rotational hard drive, system boots almost twice faster with BFQ scheduler than with CFQ or deadline schedulers. BFQ is the only thing that forces me to build kernel from source. I heard that there are plans to include BFQ in mainline kernel for 3.15. Also, if BFQ won't be the default scheduler, it shouldn't break anything. But enabling it will become much easier - kernel command line option versus building the kernel from source. |

I have been packaging linux-ck with BFQ for ages now with no ill
effects. Yes, it does not need to be enabled and can reside as an
option like noop or deadline. I believe you are correct in that
Paolo has submitted BFQ officially to upstream; I had a link but
cannot find it ATM.
