Probably it caused by my custom patch in mate-panel 1.8.0-2. Could you still reproduce this problem with mate-panel 1.8.0-3 ?

Are you saying the the gimp icon is still not present in the MATE menus? I have gimp installed and can see the icon. Please update your system let me know if the gimp icon is displayed.

sorry for the delay, the icon gimp I noticed after rebooting the system.
It would be appropriate to update the menu mate after installing gimp.

gimp calls gtk-update-icon-cache after install, so it should be visible. Maybe it was an occasional problem. I'm closing this task.
