Hi there,

There is a long standing bug in cinnamon-settings-daemon (2.0.8-4) that seems to have been fixed in Mint but still exists in Arch. The functionality for setting the key shortcut to switch keyboard layouts is un-intuitive and doesn't support most of the common shortcuts that people are used to, such as Ctrl+Shift or CapsLock. A commenter in the Cinnamon bug tracker about this issue (https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/2463#issuecomment-38422533) recommended that I report this to the Arch devs, because it seems to be related to a distro-specific patch that has already been fixed on Mint.

DISCLAIMER: I use Manjaro, not Arch. However, I'm 99% sure that package was pulled directly from Arch and this bug undoubtedly affects Arch users too.

Thanks a lot for looking into this!

Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  Custom patches are removed from cinnamon-settings-daemon 2.2.1-1 and cinnamon-control-center 2.2.3-1.

Here's another tip that the Cinnamon dev recommends to fix this bug:

I'm not sure if I should file another bug for cinnamon-control-center too?

Currently you can set it with:

$ gsettings set org.cinnamon.settings-daemon.periphals.keyboard input-sources-switcher 'keybinding'

I'll check if we could remove our custom keyboard patch. You don't need to open another task.
