since upgrading to linux-3.13.6-2 i have to manually 'modprobe r8169' to get a network connection.

no other packages were upgraded.

using arch linux multilib-testing x86_64

There is no difference at all in the r8169 module between 3.13.6-2 and 3.13.6-1. And for the record, it autoloads just fine for me.

strange, it stopped working today. the last thing i changed on the system was this one update the day before. could it be a problem with my initrd?

hmm, it magically works again. there was a linux firmware upgrade but i'm not sure if that has anything to do with this.
