Description:
Lots of applications are crashing with this latest version of freetype2.
Thunar, ristretto and gimp are some of them that I tried.


Steps to reproduce:
1. Update to latest freetype2
2. install Thunar/ristretto/gimp
3. run
4. segfault

Forgot to add this info, reverting to freetype2-2.5.2 makes everything work again.

Can you provide a gdb backtrace? Would be nice if you can provide a backtrace with freetype2 recompiled with debug symbols.

Thunar runs well here. Make sure you have a proper font setup.

Looks like a crash in new code that was added in 2.5.3, I don't see related post-release commits for this upstream, so you probably should file this upstream.

I can confirm this issue on 2 different machines.
Segfault when running: xfce-panels (with certain fonts), thunar (sometimes works though), vlc, some java GUIs, some other programs...
