Specifics please. Since nvidia-304xx doesn't provide EGL/GLES, what's conflicting?

updated mesa to 10.1.0-2
xchat wouldn't start because missing libEGL
various fiddling pursued, getting conflicts trying to get a libEGL
gave up, reverted mesa to mesa-10.0.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz then things worked

appears to be the same problem as  FS#39243  - [nvidia-304xx-utils] missing symlink for libEGL.so.1 after mesa ugrade to 10.1.0-2

Please try the new nvidia-304xx-utils/nvidia-304xx-libgl packages in [testing].
