In general we don't backport bug fixes. Exceptions include security vulnerabilities and major core-functionality Arch-specific breakages that are not likely to be corrected upstream in a timely fashion.

Unless you can make a better case for notability, my recommendations would be to wait for the next release or (if you need a more immediate solution) build the python-pillow-git package locally.
