Since version 24 thunderbird does not use libnotify anymore, new mail notification are not integrated with default system notifications, both fedora and ubuntu apply a patch to revert this change:

I tested the patch and thunderbird notifications work as expected,

do you think the patch can be applied to thunderbird in extra or is better to upload a thunderbird-libnotify package with this patch on aur?

I understand the desire for better notification integration but reverting an upstream change goes against our patching policy.¹

I have subscribed to the upstream issue in case they decide to address it so we can then readd the libnotify dependency to the Arch package.
