DetailsI tried installing a fresh arch i686 on my acer c720 chromebook. Used dos partition table with only one root partition. Installing grub 1:2.02.beta2-1 and running grub-install /dev/sda uses some UUID which is not the one from /dev/sda1. After a reboot to the newly installed system booting of course fails (could not find linux-image etc...)
Workaround: Uncomment #GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID="true" from /etc/default/grub and run grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg Note: I have not labeled my root partition, I assumed and also expected that grub uses the root=/dev/sda1 convention by default scince it's said to be faster anyway |

Read the install message, it states that you need to create a config file (and gives you a hint how to do so automatically). Also the wiki states so, and so does the install guide I suspect.
