Details

Upstream has some updates to their drive database (/usr/share/smartmontools/drivedb.h) that have not yet been included in a proper release. Please update the package provided file with the latest version from trunk and repackage.

That file is updated on a regular base. There's an update script included in smartmontools, you should use that to retrieve the last version of the drive DB.

Ok. Thank you for the tip. Perhaps the post install script could provide a 1-liner showing the user how to do this. Something like:
Periodically Update the drive database by running, /usr/bin/update-smart-drivedb

The command is mentioned in the manpage of smartctl. Printing lines about what you could or should do for packages is a no-go. It's not that an outdated smart database is something that makes your system fail.
