The -system-harfbuzz used in the qt5-webkit package is still experimental:
https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-18980

This leads to crashes, for example when opening http://cmpl.cc/ with QtWebkit.

According to what I've been told in #qtwebkit on Freenode, Debian also had -system-harfbuzz on, but then switched it off again because of similiar crashes.

From the QTBUG:

According to the Qt 5.2 configure script, -qt-harfbuzz and -system-harfbuzz are experimental options (Note Harfbuzz-NG still lacks some functionality HB-old has, though this mostly affects Arabic/Syriac). So yes, for distributions it is too early to enable HB-NG shaper by default.
