to the compile options in the PKGBUILD get it to work?

Why can't you check it? Rebuild the package using ABS and write here about results.

Just a piece of info rather than a re-opening request. Could you please add it to the comments?
Currently you need configure mpv with --enable-sdl and --enable-sdl2 and also configure sdl2 with --enable-video-directfb https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1373758#p1373758
