This is the upgrade path without the testing repo enabled. Same problem as described above. Downgrading to the previous versions solves the issue

Seems to resolve the issue. I had no crashes since the update to 2.99.908.

how's2.99.909-2 ?
Comment by Daan van Rossum (drrossum) - Monday, 03 February 2014, 18:49 GMT
This needs some more testing. I havn't had crashes with 908 and 909 so far, but it only occured sporadically before. I'll report on Wed, or earlier if I see the crashes.

Update:

The Error only occours in the Game "Prison Architect", but the old driver works. The Error is reproducible on another maschine.

@Kai: You seem to see a different problem. It's not the "[drm:i915_reset] *ERROR* Failed to reset chip" error, where the display just turns black.
Comment by Daan van Rossum (drrossum) - Thursday, 06 February 2014, 04:16 GMT
I havn't gotten any crashes over the last days, so the new driver works fine. The original bug (failing GPU reset) is not yet fixed, though, it just is not triggered often in this newer version of the driver (see upstream bug report).

In my view, this can be closed as "fixed upstream"
Comment by Franziskus Kiefer (franziskuskiefer) - Tuesday, 11 February 2014, 10:55 GMT
I can only speak for me, but I haven't got any crashes since a while now. Seems to be fixed.
Comment by Andreas Radke (AndyRTR) - Thursday, 13 February 2014, 17:04 GMT
@Kai this could be a different bug. Report your problem to the upstream bug and we'll see if this is the same.

I get this "render ring hung inside bo" error also with the slightly newer xf86-video-intel-2.99.910-1 running Dota2 from Steam.
