http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/2836 Firefox STILL freezes when gnome-vfs is installed. I totally missed it because I didn't have gnome installed and thought I did. Didn't have other way of contacting JCG... Also, the bug is present in xfce as well... |
This task depends upon
So, im *guessing*, gnome-vfs does something when gtk widgets are called and we know how gnome stalls when it cant talk to the loopback.
So my hosts were all cool, arch's default stuff and so on. But I used simple_firewall.rules from /etc/iptables/ as my firewall script (/etc/iptables/iptables.rules) for the iptables daemon but they shut off everything. So I added
# loopback for kde/gnome apps
-A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT
above my established related line
There is no more stalling (the bug is fixed, was it even a bug?). and KDE works, and KDE apps turn on in less than 10 minutes :) yay. i can live the dream again.
