I cannot get mpd to start since it is looking for librtmp.so.0 and rtmpdump 20131205-1 only provides librtmp.so.1.

$ mpd
mpd: error while loading shared libraries: librtmp.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

$ ldd /usr/bin/mpd | grep rtmp
librtmp.so.0 => not found

$pacman -Q | grep mpd
libmpdclient 2.9-1
mpd 0.18.6-1
rtmpdump 20131205-1

Did I screw up with my packages somewhere or does mpd need a recompile?

mpd => /usr/bin/mpd (interpreter => /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2)
(…)
libavformat.so.55 => /usr/lib/libavformat.so.55
librtmp.so.1 => /usr/lib/librtmp.so.1

As Allan said, partial upgrades are not supported.
