DetailsWell, that last update was supposed to fix the Totem plugin... But it doesn't. Witness this screenshot of Totem failing to play the "V for Vendetta" trailer (arbitrarily chosen because the page's background is not black):
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/9239/screenshot8ys.png Won't play, period, and no right-click menu either, which means the plugin is not starting at all. Starting Firefox from the console and going to the page again reveals the reason: NP_Initialize Init scriptable instance Failed to open DBUS session: Unable to determine the address of the message bus Die scriptable instance NP_Initialize Init scriptable instance Failed to open DBUS session: Unable to determine the address of the message bus Die scriptable instance Init scriptable instance Failed to open DBUS session: Unable to determine the address of the message bus Die scriptable instance NP_Initialize Init scriptable instance Failed to open DBUS session: Unable to determine the address of the message bus Die scriptable instance And yes, I do indeed have dbus in my DAEMONS array. I'm guessing that bug #3765 (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/3765), the inability of Konqeror's media plugin to handle movies, is related, since both Totem and Noatun use dbus. |
This task depends upon
exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session /opt/gnome/bin/gnome-session
This is included in the gnome.desktop file installed by gnome-session, but when you're not using gdm/kdm/xdm/whatever, the session bus won't startup by default.
