Well, that last update was supposed to fix the Totem plugin... But it doesn't. Witness this screenshot of Totem failing to play the "V for Vendetta" trailer (arbitrarily chosen because the page's background is not black):

Won't play, period, and no right-click menu either, which means the plugin is not starting at all. Starting Firefox from the console and going to the page again reveals the reason:

And yes, I do indeed have dbus in my DAEMONS array.

I'm guessing that bug #3765 (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/3765), the inability of Konqeror's media plugin to handle movies, is related, since both Totem and Noatun use dbus.

dbus session bus is used, not the dbus system bus. You have to launch your session with dbus-launch. For gnome this would be the line for ~/.xinitrc:

exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session /opt/gnome/bin/gnome-session

This is included in the gnome.desktop file installed by gnome-session, but when you're not using gdm/kdm/xdm/whatever, the session bus won't startup by default.
